Fish in Aquamarine-FUKUSHIMA 2.01

Aquamarine Fukushima is situated in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. It has been a prominent aquamarine destination with millions of annual visitors.

However, its fate took a tragic turn on March 11, 2011, when the East Japan earthquake struck, causing a devastating tsunami that destroyed crucial electrical equipment at the aquarium. Aquamarine Fukushima valiantly worked to sustain its marine life using emergency power supplies. But due to challenges from nearby nuclear plants, securing sufficient power became an arduous task.

By March 16, with fuel supplies depleted, Aquamarine Fukushima faced a heart-wrenching decision. The aquarium had to part with around 750 species, resulting in the loss of over 200,000 lives. Only a handful of sea creatures and birds were successfully transferred to other locations and survived this calamity.

This album serves as a somber tribute to the memory of those lost aquatic beings.
